The word "nuclear " sounds dangerous and intimidating. However, nuclear energy causes fewer deaths from pollution and greenhouse gases than fossil fuel, as shown by NASA scientists . Substitute other energy sources for nuclear could save thousands of lives in the future as well as representing a greener solution for the planet.
Pushker A. And James E. Kharecha Hansen led a study in which demonstrate the advantages of nuclear energy . They calculated that globally , nuclear power has prevented 1.84 million related to pollution and 64 giga tons of CO2 that would have caused the burning of fossil fuels deaths.
By 2050 , nuclear power could avert up to 7 million additional deaths and up to 240 giga tons of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere if it replaces other fuels , including coal and natural gas. Contributing to the fight against global warming.
There is much controversy surrounding the use of nuclear energy due to devastating accidents around the plants. In 2011 alone the explosion occurred in Fukushima in Japan , the biggest nuclear disaster since Chernobyl. Large amounts of toxic radiation were released into the atmosphere , sea and land threatening the health of people and ecosystems in the area. However, the duo of scientists ensures that the benefits of nuclear energy outweigh the risks.
Obviously , nuclear power is not the ultimate solution to the current fuel crisis , however , is a proposal to consider along with renewable sources to achieve a safe , green and responsible energy use.
